Growing up, my mother lovingly referred to me as iyaoju. Originating from Okrika, Rivers State, Nigeria, and meaning “My Skin”, Iyaoju has become more than just a nickname to me; it reflects the tender bond shared between my mother and me and the comfort and warmth she offered me.      

When I embarked on creating my own personal care company, the meaning behind IyaOju served as my guiding light. I wanted our brand to bear this cherished name and embody its spirit of belonging and comfort. Launching IyaOju’s personal and household care journey with luxury hand-poured candles was a match made in heaven, allowing me to honour the essence of IyaOju while indulging in my love of scented candles. For me, candles are more than just objects; they possess the power to infuse spaces with warmth and serenity, much like the embrace of a loved one.

I believe one’s home is an extension of one's being, akin to the outer layer of one's skin. By introducing a unique scent or aesthetic, we imbue our surroundings with our essence, creating a sanctuary that resonates with who we are.
